Why Do Teeth Become Stained?

Dentists and patients recognize that teeth can become stained because of coffee, wine, and certain foods, but less are aware that age and certain medications can also allow teeth to become stained. To explain how teeth become stained, it will be helpful to explain a few terms. These are intrinsic stains and extrinsic stains.

Extrinsic stains are the easiest to treat.

Intrinsic stains are the deep stains.
